EXODUS OF GNOMES

Here is a Haiku sequence (known as a ‘Sakuhin’) by Paul.

It came first in the Time Haiku magazine Sukuhin Competition 2019.

EXODUS OF GNOMES

spring snow
apple blossom wafts
into the garden

pollarded birch
its canopy
still flourishing

bluebells line the path
up to the gate
waving their little flags

ants on the patio
exploring
the plaza

fearsome
flying insects
mate and die

under a tussock
a young toad
its yellow legs flexing

brown rat
disappears into the hedge
no nestlings this year

exodus
of gnomes
(moving to granddaughter’s)
